Text extends outside the boxes[edit source]

Shoutwiki staff page in Firefox 28.0 in Vector skin.jpg

In my Firefox browser, the text extends outside the boxes. --Timeshifter (talk) 02:08, 30 March 2014 (UTC)

Hi Timeshifter - we're gonna need more information about what version of Firefox you're using and what OS you are using.--Cook879 ShoutWiki Staff talk 12:36, 30 March 2014 (UTC)
Oh and what skin are you using?--Cook879 ShoutWiki Staff talk 12:36, 30 March 2014 (UTC)

It's been a while, and it's probably not the best solution, but I set the CSS to hide the overflow on narrow screens. --Saftzie (talk) 18:42, 17 September 2016 (UTC)
Thanks. I looked around at the underlying templates just now, and noticed your addition of overflow:hidden; in the CSS of Template:StafferBox.
I have a 21 inch monitor. The overflow problem occurs in more and more staff boxes on the ShoutWiki Staff page as I increase the font size.
So I changed overflow:hidden; to overflow:scroll;
That solved the problem for me on my monitor. The scroll bar shows up as needed, and I can read the full text now without it overlapping the box below. I have learned a lot more about CSS, templates, etc. since I wrote my first comment in this thread. And I am up to Windows 10 in all my computers. :) --Timeshifter (talk) 01:49, 18 September 2016 (UTC)
Usually scroll draws scroll bars always and activates them on overflow. overflow-y: auto should draw only vertical bars when needed. --Saftzie (talk) 01:56, 18 September 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for the info. I was wondering what it did differently since I couldn't see a difference immediately. I can not remember what it looked like before your latest change. But I see here that for most browsers what you are saying is true:

Others can see what we are talking about easily by narrowing their browser window temporarily. Then the scroll bars will show up once the window is narrow enough. If that does not work, then also increase the text size temporarily in your browser preferences. This CSS may prove useful in your wikis and web pages --Timeshifter (talk) 08:03, 18 January 2017 (UTC)
