Sorry, I accidentally selected a few wrong stuff while doing a mass batch deletion. I'll try to be more careful next time, thanks for catching that! :) SamanthaNguyen (talk) 23:10, 14 January 2018 (UTC)
Page deletions and more on s:w:hiccup[edit source]
Apologies for deleting a content page — it certainly wasn't my intention to! I stumbled upon your wiki earlier today while doing the usual spam patrol and noticed it had (and alas, still has) quite a few spam pages while taking a look at its list of newest pages. As there were many legitimate content pages you created mixed in, I accidentally ended up deleting the "TCRF-related Japanese phrases" page.
If you take a look at the aforementioned list of newest pages created on the wiki, the statistics page and/or the list of all pages on your wiki, you'll see that there's still more than a fair amount of spam left (compare "content pages" vs. "all pages on the wiki"). Please let me know if you need any help in cleaning up those or if you'd prefer to do that manually (although I do wonder why the staff-only tool I used to delete pages earlier today seemingly broke, hm).
As for the access restrictions, I've enabled the Invite extension (see Help:Inviting users for more info) and made page editing and account creation possible only by explicitly invited users, stewards and ShoutWiki staff; this is functionally equivalent to "removing all [other] users" (which isn't really something MediaWiki properly supports, and even if it would, I doubt we could cleanly support that kind of a feature on ShoutWiki due to our shared login system).
Please let me (or another staffer) know if you have any further questions, feedback or requests! Also, once again apologies for deleting that content page — it's really something that shouldn't have happened! --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 23:25, 10 June 2019 (UTC)
- With a lot of help from a real SQL guru, I crafted a query to get all pages on s:w:hiccup that weren't created by you. After manually reviewing the list and removing a few valid content pages—that were originally created as a result of a page move—I tossed the list into a deletion script. Please review the deletion log just to make sure no valid content pages were accidentally deleted! That being said, your wiki should now be spam-free, so yay for that. :)
- The "Link spam" anti-spam filter was either due to AbuseFilter filter #1 or filter #3 on your wiki. I've disabled both filters since due to anonymous edits being turned off, they're unlikely to be of much use anymore, but they're there, should you ever decide to allow anon edits again; and given that AbuseFilter is a highly customizable, flexible tool, it can be used for various other things than just to prevent obvious spam or vandalism. For example, on Jedipedia we use AbuseFilter to ensure that all new (main namespace) pages have the
{{Eras}}
template and at least one category.
- Happy editing! --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 11:43, 13 June 2019 (UTC)
